This paper examines Constance Beresford Howe's "The Book of Eve". The paper deals with the issue of women's status within a society that is run by patriarchal values. It shows how Eva struggles to attain personal freedom, since she finds herself confined in a very unfulfilled and unhappy marriage. Eventually, she is able to liberate herself from the constraints under which she must operate by renaming herself with her own values. 11 pgs. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
