The Differences Between the Mahayana Brach of Buddhism in China and the Theravada Branche

The paper begins with a brief history of the origins of Buddhism. The two branches are then described and the differences are pointed out. Such as each branches tenets on the existence of Buddha-whether he is a mortal or a man. Enlightenment is a major difference between the two and the aspects of each branch view on enlightenment are discussed. As well some primary figures in history who helped shaped the religion and are responsible for changes therein are presented. The summary briefly points out that although these major differences in the branches exist there are a few common beliefs.
